Eastern Shore

The Maryland Eastern Shore is a fairly wide peninsula between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It has hundreds of miles of shoreline, ocean resorts, farmland, forests, modest cities and small historic towns.
Maryland's Eastern Shore is a rural place but it does have numerous towns. Salisbury is the largest "city" with 24,000 residents. It's the regional hub for transportation, shopping, education and services. Ocean City doesn't have many year-round residents, but is the big tourist draw in the summer on the Maryland Eastern Shore.
On the Chesapeake Bay side of the peninsula you'll find quaint Eastern Shore towns in every nook and cranny. St Michaels, Easton, Chestertown, Cambridge and Crisfield are some of the most prominent. Exploring the little waterfront towns of the Maryland Eastern Shore is a great way to spend the day.
